Briefly on the mainland

Description

After crossing Riddarholmen on a cloudy day I continued towards central Stockholm by another footbridge. As I had reached the mainland and walked for a couple of hundred meters along a quay I stopped briefly to take this photo.

Another angler filled my quota of ”daily life”, or in this case maybe ”decisive moment”. He had no doubt caught something. He was pulling and pulling his fishing rod very hard, so obviously the hook had caught on to something quite heavy. But what could it have been? A huge salmon? Not impossible. An old bike? Not impossible.

I didn’t wait to see. Maybe in the end he had to cut off the line to save the rod.

The bridge seen here is called Vasabron, named after the royal Vasa family of the 16th and 17th centuries. In the background, left to right, is a small part of the Parliament, a glimpse of the Royal Palace, then some buildings I think are used as parliament offices, behind them the tower of the Cathedral, then a former private palace now housing the Supreme Court, in the background the tower of the so called German church, and finally an annex of the House of Nobility.

After this brief photo session I crossed the bridge, where I stopped twice. Please see the CV, and wait for my next post.

A very nice fragment of city, interesting bridge and towers.
Good framing, colors and light.
Angler at the right moment add flavor to this composition.

A really nice scene across the water. I am more into the panorama itself but the fishermen add a nice foreground I suppose.
I like the towers with style and character.

Hi Gert,interesting buildings which as always you have described perfectly and also an interesting moment for the fisherman caught in the difficult recovery, I would never have thought that there were also salmon in these city waters, excellent catch as always.

I like the extra photo. You have captured well the action of the fisherman.
The point of view is showing the details of the bridge and of the buildings.

Hello Gert,
Oh, how disappointing!
I was sure you would wait to see the outcome and tease us by showing the giant fish as a w/s!
However, I have to say that this is a fine composition!
The well placed figures guide us towards the water and ultimately to the eclectic mix of b/g buildings.
We are able to see the Parliament Building which you feature much more closely in your complementary shot and show how nicely it is framed by the autumnal trees.

in são paulo city, if someone falls in the water of tietê river, he-she will be obligated to go to the hospital to take lots of vacines and medicines to prevent the worst.

I have been to Stockholm several times and I have never seen the fishermen. Nice photo.

This splendid view of the city with some of the most emblematic administrative buildings, the fisherman puts the vital touch fighting with his line, the CV shows us this circular façade of Parliament and the trees next to it with beautiful autumn colors.
